The Man in the High Castle

That, my friends, is the first one minute of TMITHC Pilot. (I can't believe something could match HTGAWM in the acronym game!) What's it about, you ask? It's a period drama set in an alternate universe--two of my favorite TV show themes combined into one! Check it out on IMDB.

Looks very promising, no? I'm very excited about this but I still couldn't get myself to watch the episode yet because of work and fur mom responsibilities. If you have, let me know if you liked it, ya?

Sinulog 2015 from my iPhone 2G

To help me catch up to reality since I lost my phone, I had to rely on my first iPhone, which was recently reunited to me after lending it to someone. Since it was apparently still working, it's the one I'm currently using as my primary phone. I love it but it's basically just really for texts, calls and the iPod function. (No offense, old phone, but I couldn't really do anything with you since every app out there runs on iOS that's a lot higher than what you're on. Plus, there is no front cam. I repeat, there is no front camera in an iPhone 2G!) So before the year 2014 entered, I have already decided on buying an iPhone 5C, and ditching Sinulog festival instead, all because I thought I couldn't survive without a smart smartphone.

Alas, my itchy feet couldn't imagine staying in Metro Manila for the long weekend doing nothing. I bought someone else's plane ticket less than 12 hours before the flight, made a quick fake ID (ho-hum I want to delete this part but no one really reads this blog anyway so the fake ID bit stays) and hurriedly packed my luggage for a 5-day stay in Cebu.

I don't wanna delve into the specifics but I want to emphasize that I really, really had a good time. Sinulog 2015 was one for the books. I'll definitely go back next year. <Insert more travel-rave euphoria statements here> And in lieu of my usual smartphone travel photos, I still tried snapping some pics using my old phone. They're not the most brilliant photos, technically speaking, but the memories attached to them make them justifiable for a blog post.

If you ask me whether Sinulog was worth not having a new smartphone today, I'd say, "HELL YEAH!" And I'd spontaneously go again in a heartbeat.

Hand-Me-Downs

Last year, all my extra money went to traveling. I became so addicted to it that I forwent every other luho I used to spend money on. (eg., bikini, shoes, makeup, gadgets, even clothes)

It was the year I didn't buy a pair of bikini, unlike the preceding years when I'd have at least two new pairs for a weekend beach trip; The great shoe haul of 2013, when I brought back to Manila 14 pairs of shoes from Singapore, made it easy to keep me from buying new pairs last year; I wore less to no makeup (okay, except when out partying) because I couldn't afford to replenish my stock; Last time I considered buying a new camera lens was in 2013. I lost my lens cap so now I'm keeping my camera in a ziploc bag. I guess I can afford a new lens cap but I didn't want to tempt myself by going inside a camera store.

Clothing, on the other hand, was probably the easiest luho withdrawal struggle. I couldn't buy new clothes but I have Kriz, and Kriz handed me down 20+ barely used shirts. Yes, guy shirts! Who needs a boyfriend to steal loose shirts from when you have good friends who'd willingly give them?

I have compiled in this post the OOTDs while wearing some of these shirts. I had to cut several of them because cropped tops are a staple, at least for me, during festivals.

Sunday Lunch at Nest Alabang

I have a love-hate relationship with Sundays. It's the day of the week that says "It's Monday tomorrow. Why, of course, you should squeeze in every non-work thing you have during this wonderful day!" And that's what I usually do, plus one thing to Treat Yo Self! (Er, myself)

For this particular Sunday, I went all the way to Alabang for lunch. Going there was the errand but the lunch itself, I surely can call the treat.

Located at the 31st floor of Vivere Hotel is the Nest Alabang. It offers a dining in the sky experience, familiar comfort food, and warm and excellent service. Like the hotel, this recently renovated restaurant is owned and managed by the Garcia siblings, who beeteedubz are amazingly just around my age. And as it is family-managed, one can definitely feel that homey vibe. Like what Anina Garcia (owner) said, it was kind of like how birds would fly back to the nest for safety and comfort, and to eat.

Upon entering the room, it's very noticeable how everything is so bright and serene, practically how every perfect Sunday lunch would look like in my mind. Thanks to the natural ambient lighting, the place and the food served were all undoubtedly Instagram-worthy.

Commitments, Or Lack Thereof

After two years of being commitment-less, this cute one came into my life. It's not exactly a boyfriend, but I could already tell it's way better.

Last month, I told my high school friends about potentially adopting a friend's newborn puppy. They all told me it's a bad idea. Today, I told my college best friends that I just became a pet owner. They were all skeptic about it. The thing is, I really cannot blame them. I, too, think this was a bad idea.

During the past two years, I only thought about myself and about how I could make myself happy, consequences be damned. My motivation to heal myself from a heartbreak overcame any fear I had. But earlier today when my friend dropped off the pup, I was legitimately afraid. Thoughts like "How is this dog gonna survive when I travel?", "I NEED to clean my room/the house" and "This dog could die because I'm too irresponsible." popped in my head. The truth is, even until now that he's sleeping *~~beside me~~ on my lap, I'm still arguing with myself if I can really commit to this.

I want to make this work.

*he woke up, jumped out of his litter box and slept on my lap. Ahh my heart! T_T

Almost everyone in my high school barkada is already working in Metro Manila, and yet we rarely see each other. Rare, as in once a year rare. Leave it to a good ol' Palawan vacation to make everyone catch up with each other, cramming in beach trips, spontaneous road trips and house parties at Larry's.

Here's the partial post-trip video I managed to stitch together while laughing 70% of the time I was editing it.
